Cat Tats

Even to my own surprise - after all the years of being a huge cat lover (since I was a young girl) and all the years I've had tattoos (since I was 19 years old) it still surprises me that I don't have a tattoo of a cat!

I've always wanted one of course, but with all the beautiful cat designs out there, it's hard to know where to start and which design to pick.

Lately, I've been itching to get another tattoo - and obviously I want one of a cat. A cat tat is looooong over-due.

Some people get tattoos on a whim, but I think about mine for a long time before getting them. And I'm glad that I've always done it that way, since in retrospect, I can recall tattoos that I wanted in the past, that I'm really glad I don't have now.

Anyway, I've been looking for some designs of cats that appeal to me and wanted everyone's opinions on which one(s) you like, and which one(s) you think would look best on me. Keeping in mind though that the tattoos I already have are black and grey. Personally, I'm just not into colored tattoos, so keep in mind which one(s) do you feel would look best in black and grey.

I have narrowed my choices down to three cat designs, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions - thanks everyone!!!

3.) If I were to get the Louis Wain design pictured above, I would not have the text in it - just the cat, vases with flowers, and mice.

NUMBER 3 WON :) I STILL HAVE TO GET IT THOUGH

Til later...

Cheers from Catland,

- Jane

I like them all, but my favorite is the first one. But I also know how much you admire Louis Wain, so the third one might be more meaningful.

And have you thought of drawing your own?

Hugs and purrs to you and Ms. A -

Hi Katie and Starr -

How are you both? Thank so much for your replies here my lovely friends! Your thoughts and opinions on the cat designs I'm considering for tattoos are much appreciated and helpful.

I too am also partial to the first one I posted here, just as you guys are :) I have a small patch of that design actually, and I put it up against my right arm, and it looked really good! I don't know, it just seemed to click and fit. I think it would look great and it also combines my love of cats *and* Art Nouveau.

Katie - your bring up a good point though about me being such a huge Louis Wain fan and how meaningful a Wain cat tat would be to me. I've thought about for many years. But that's even harder to choose since I love ALL his work- I'm sure you understand. Also, most of his work is in color, so I'd have to find a cat of his that will look good in black and grey. So I think I'd have to give that more time and thought, but it will happen eventually - mark my words! ;)

And yes, I definitely have considered getting a tattoo of one of my original cat designs. I think that would be extra special and unique since it would be of my own creation. The one that comes to mind the most is the black 'n white cat logo I did for Harmony Houses' annual Walkathon - which of course was based on Abbey. I plan on getting that one eventually, on the bottom of my lower leg, right above my ankle.

Anyway...regardless of what cat tat I do end up getting, I'll be sure to post it here for you all to see! I'm hoping to get one within the next upcoming months.

Thanks again my sweet friends for your input.

Looks like the first one I posted is in the lead!

Hi kittyanydots -

So nice to see you here :)

I agree with you that Mishkat's (Katie) idea of drawing my own cat tat is a great idea! That would make it even more original and unique.

As I mentioned in my comment here yesterday, I have considered getting the design that I did for Harmony House Cat Shelter's annual Walkathon, since it was my own creation and also based on my own cat, Ms. Abbey, too! How purrrrfect would that be? ;)

I know I'll get that one eventually, but since I'm currently wanting to get one on my right arm, the ones I posted here at my blog I felt were the best choices for that, especially the first one.

We shall see....

But when I do it, I'll be sure to post a photo of the cat tat I decided on and got here.

Have a creative and cat-filled day kittyanydots, and thanks so much for your input here :)
